Classroom Experience

Butte College
Associate Faculty
Fall 2025
I was the instructor of record for an Introduction to Programming course at Butte Community College during the Fall semester of 2025. I created the syllabus, many assignments, and all slides for this course, utilizing Canvas LMS, Google Slides, GitHub Codespaces, and open-source Python textbooks/documentation.
I emphasized learning by doing. Students practiced topics with twice-weekly small programs, and demonstrated mastery with larger projects every 3 weeks. We started from students with no knowledge of programming to creating complex programs in an accelerated 11-week course.

Durham High School
Student Teacher
2025-26 Academic Year
I student taught at Durham High School (go Trojans!) for academic year 2025-2026. During this time I co-taught with Emily Abshier, a math teacher with 16 years of experience including 5 years as a master teacher.
For Practicum II I took the lead for an Integrated I (9th grade) class and a remedial Core Connections III (8th grade) class. Most of my students in both classes were freshman and I differentiated instruction for numerous students with IEPs and 504s as well as English Language Learners.
Throughout the year I incorporated technology and physical manipulatives while teaching from the College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) curriculum. I used standards-based grading to inform my instruction and assessment.
During the fall semester of my placement I also helped run the Girls Who Code club during lunchtime at DHS.
You can see some of my lesson plans for my Integrated I class here.
